Washington - Democratic party presidential candidate Barack Obama is increasing his lead over Republican rival John McCain as the US presidential election campaign enters its final phase, according to a poll published Saturday by the Washington Post.

It said 53 per cent of the electorate would vote for Obama, compared to 44 per cent for McCain. Obama also led in several key states seen as decisive in next Tuesday's election.

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis predicted a 'comeback' in the final days, as both sides ramped up their advertising and volunteer operations.

Davis said the Republican campaign expected to outspend Obama in the final week by more than 10 million dollars, which would turn the tables on the trend of the last few months.

Obama and McCain were geared up for a final weekend of campaigning, volunteering and television advertisements, as voters turned out in droves to cast their ballots early.

Both campaigns claimed an edge in the early voting stakes in key battlegrounds including Florida, Nevada, New Mexico and North Carolina, as well as absentee ballots cast in other states.

David Plouffe, the campaign manager of Democratic nominee Obama, claimed more than 40 per cent of the total expected voters had already cast ballots in states that allow early voting. Higher turnout historically helps Democrats in presidential elections.

The two candidates continued to make stops Friday through a handful of swing states. On Monday, McCain plans rallies in seven different states.

Obama has raised unprecedented amounts in donations through the course of the presidential campaign - more than 600 million dollars - but a spending spree over the last two months across the country may have left Republicans with an opening in the final stretch.

But Plouffe announced that Obama's campaign would begin advertising in McCain's home state of Arizona, as well as North Dakota and Georgia - a sign of just how far Obama is trying to push into traditional Republican territory.

The longer this campaign goes on, the more desperate and radical McCain is getting. We need someone in the White House who has a steady temperment and control in serious situations. That isn't something McCain displays at all, and Palin is in La La land, acting like a cheerleader at her high school games. Neither one sets an example of good leadership.

PRESIDENT JOHN McCAINNov 1st, 2008 - 14:31:38

And this is why. Because all the votes by committed party voters will count for NOTHING. You can all scream your guts out on these pages for either the Dems or Reps, it will make no difference whatsoever to the result - the FLOATER will decide who wins.

In any democratic society where political parties are fairly evenly matched, IT IS ALWAYS THE FLOATING VOTER who decides the result, without exception. Not open to discussion - FACT !

Committed party voters simply do not count, their vote is guaranteed and the parties have to concentrate on the FLOATER. It is a waste of time preaching to the converted.

A FLOATER is a person who has NO party allegiance and votes according to what they see, read and hear - they use their own judgement and conscience..

In this election, the candidates are so unique and poorly selected by their parties, that the percentage of floating voters will be very high.

The very issue of an old man and his awful VP against a black man has created a large divide amongst voters, especially with the backgrounds and profiles of both candidates being highly controversial.

Many millions of floaters will at this moment have decided to vote for Obama for various reasons and the Opinion Polls reflect this - wrongly as usual. Polls have a habit of getting things wrong. Occupational hazard.

Many millions of these floaters will almost certainly switch their voting intentions at the ballot box. A last minute change.

REASON ? Being conservative, lack of confidence, afraid of the unknown, one option faf too radical, suspicion, doubts, race issues, better the devil you know than the devil you do not and a hundred more other different personal reasons.

RESULT ; McCain will definitely win with a satisfactory majority, entirely due to the unpredictable and apprehensive FLOATER.
On November 5th it will be PRESIDENT ELECT JOHN McCAIN. No doubt at all, it is a foregone conclusion.

PS - Not my choice, purely logical and intelligent analysis of the candidates profiles and unpredictability of mass behaviour. It has happened many, many times before, not only in the US, but in almost every democratic country in the world.

The floating vote ALWAYS WINS elections, NOT the party enthusiasts.

Drudge says Zogby puts McCain one point ahead in Friday’s one day polling.

ZOGBY SATURDAY: McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday poll. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. AP Is Shocked: Undecided Voters Are PUMAs, And They Don’t Like Barry

And there are a lot of them.

“I’m split right down the middle,” said the 50-year-old Air Force Reserve technician from Amherst, N.Y. “Each one has things that are good for me and things that are bad for me. And people like me.”

With the sand in the 2008 campaign hourglass about depleted, Campbell is part of a stubborn wedge of people who, somehow, are still making up their minds about who should be president. One in seven, or 14 percent, can’t decide or back a candidate but might switch, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll of likely voters released Friday.

Who are they? They look a lot like the voters who’ve already locked onto a candidate, though they’re more likely to be white and less likely to be liberal. And they disproportionately backed Hillary Rodham Clinton’s failed run for the Democratic nomination.

And there you have it. The PUMAs are not some little fringe group of angry women. They are at least 14% of the electorate, but more importantly, they, as undecideds, are the ones who will decide the election. Some think they will nearly all break for McCain. Maybe Obama should have treated his Sweeties a little better when he had the chance.

Here’s how AP describes these folks.

Even so, persuadable voters could be especially fertile hunting ground for McCain in the closing days of a contest in which most polls show him trailing.

These people trust Obama less than decided voters do to handle the economy, the Iraq war and terrorism. They are less accepting that the Illinois senator has enough experience to be president. And by a 17 percentage-point spread, more see Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin favorably than unfavorably, unlike the narrow majority of voters already backing a candidate who dislike her.

And so the most famous PUMA of the day, who explains to the AP what they already knew, but chose to ignore, is Chris Markle.

Half are independents, more than double their proportion among decided voters. But, as with decided voters, more persuadables are Democrats than Republicans. Four in 10 supported Clinton’s candidacy this spring.

“She got cheated, I thought,” said Chris Markle, 25, who’s from Schenectady, N.Y., and now leans toward McCain. “I’m kind of upset about that.”

Barack Obama Revealed, A Dire Warning from an African American...

I have been hoping I would never have to write this article. I hoped it would never get to this point, which would force me to openly speak out against the first African American to seriously have a chance to be elected President of the United States.

But after reviewing all the Stanley Kurtz material on Barack Obama/Bill Ayers relationship, I've come to the conclusion Barack Obama is definitely under the influence of a radical ideology that is so dangerous, it could literally pose a danger to the very existence of the United States, especially when we have an economy already in crises, and a war in progress against one of the greatest threats we have ever faced, in Islamic terrorism. (Photo to the right is William Ayers mug shot taken upon arrest by Chicago police in 1968 - just before Ayers began his campaign in the early 70's - bombing campaign that is, not political)

I know Barack Obama. No I haven't met Barack Obama personally, but I know many African Americans like him. African Americans who were born in the 1950's and early 1960's who are now in their 40 and 50's in age. I am of that generation.

Our generation grew up personally witnessing the turmoil of the 1960's and 70's, which shaped our viewpoint of America. During the great civil rights movement of this era a very young radical element evolved and came into being in the Northern black communities of major cities of America.

This element I refer to did not embrace the nonviolent civil disobedience philosophy of Martin Luther King. In fact we ridiculed King's non-violent movement going on in the South. We wanted to meet violence with violence, and so organizations like the Black Panther Party, Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) (which later renounced non-violence) and The Nation of Islam came into being in cities like NY, Chicago, Boston, and LA. Those times and organizations produced leaders like Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, Huey Newton, the dis-Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Bobby Seale, and others.

In the mid 60's those leaders of the black radical movement began to form alliances with white radical groups also dedicated to the use of violence in the opposition to American policies. Groups like the Weathermen (or Weather Underground as they later became known), the Yippies (Youth International party) , the SDS, had become active on American college campuses protesting the Vietnam war. These groups were led by people such as Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Bill Ayers, Berenedette Dohrn , Cathy Wilkerson. I remember them all. Young Kathy Boudin was one who died in preparation of a bomb.

At age 16, born and being raised in New York City, these people became my greatest political influence and also that of many other young African Americans, I came very close to joining the Black Panther Party, but in several years I was totally discouraged with that movement and embraced the teachings and beliefs of MLK.

But there are many AA's who grew up in that era who never stopped believing the basic idea that America was a evil and racist place, although these same people moved into the mainstream of middle and upper class American society to have families, own homes, and get decent paying jobs, as they grew older.

I personally know many of them who still have a deep rooted, well hidden hatred, for white Americans, for perceived racial grievances, both past and present. These people will interact with whites on a daily basis, but in private in the presence of other AA's express their true bitterness regarding this country, and the need for change, no matter how radical that change may be

Based on things I have heard and read of his associations in the 90's with Bill Ayers and others,, when he was 34 and not 8 years old (as Barack relates his age to the bombing apex of Ayers, instead of when his true interaction occurred), I believe Barack Obama is one of those people with a basic belief that America is an evil and racist nation that needs radical change. I not only believe that of Barack, but of his wife Michelle too, who early in his campaign let slip her true feelings about this country.

I too once held that same bitterness, and I won't claim it doesn't some time well up in me. But I finally rejected , and am able to overcome the hatred and bitterness, as I came to understand through my Christian spiritual experience what the true causes of racism and all other hatred and disputes between humans truly stem from.

But I truly doubt Barack and Michelle have rejected their hidden rage and bitterness, under the warped hateful Afro-centric version of Christianity , which they were subjected to for many years under the pastor-ship Rev Jeremiah Wright.

Afro-centrisim is basically came into being to falsely legitimize the deeply hidden bitterness and hatred toward the white community. Instead of a true Christian spirituality which would cleanse the person of hatred and bitterness, Afro-centrism re enforces that hatred and bitterness. A couple of very subtle but sure signs of how Barack and Michelle truly feel about his country were his refusal to wear an American flag pin on his lapel, until media coverage of the issue forced him too, and Michelle's statement about being feeling some pride for her country for the first time in her life. Every African American in this country from age 40-60 could probably identify with, and understood those two statements , one physical and one verbal, by the Obama's.

But although I can identify with the Obama's,, feelings I can't stay silent in the thought that this type of radicalism may soon sit as the executive head of our government. I feel African Americans in our sometimes blind rage about racism, have made many unholy alliances with less than stellar elements of the white community on a quest to press to their own agendas, to the detriment of ours.

I truly believe the relationship between Barack Obama and William Ayers epitomizes those unholy alliances of the 60's and early 70's, which driven from the streets, moved into the inner city black neighborhoods and schools of Chicago, morphed into something seemingly respectable, but only spreading the same hatred and bitterness.

My warning to all Americans both white and black (those AA's who can overcome the vote black impulse) is that in Barack Obama, you are not getting Bill Cosby, you are getting a very well disguised version of Louis Farrakhan.

The question you need to ask yourself now and on Nov 4th is this.

Do you really want to put the toxic cocktail of a character mentored and tutored by Rev Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers in the White House?

Especially when this country is facing economic and security issues so critical our very existence is threatened.

I do not.

Some African Americans will read this and brand me a traitor for this article. I say to them what good is changing America from what you may believe is bad to something much worse, for the small satisfaction of being able to say we have a black man in the White House.

So personally, with conflicting feeling about it, I'm rejecting the first African American nominated for the Presidency, for what I honestly believe is the future good and well being of this country.

I hope all those reading this will give serious consideration to what I present here, and do so too,

The guy earlier who said it would be the FLOATING VOTER or SWING VOTE which will win this election is 100% correct.

There are an estimated 10-20% floaters, people who are undecided and not fully committed to any political party. With 240 million eligible voters and around 43% or just over 1 million not voting at all, that leaves about 130 million actual voters.

Floaters at a minimum 10% is 13 million people and THAT is more than enough to decide the result. Any higher and it is a landslide victory.

Also what the guy said about the candidates and doubts etc. is correct. Floaters simply do not know who to vote for with such a bad choice. But because of the special circumstances relating to Obama, it is a very high probability that these floaters will at the last minute vote for McCain.

I would give it a probability of 0.9+.

A NIXONESQUE MOVE FROM TEAM OBAMANov 1st, 2008 - 23:50:34

Obama veered off message yesterday, kicking off the campaign bus reporters from three newspapers deemed unfriendly to the campaign - The New York Post, The Dallas Morning News and The Washington Times.

This is bipartisanship?

The move is utterly at odds with a central part of Obama's message: the idea that he's a different kind of candidate - one who won't demonize opponents or critics, but will instead work hard to bring people together.

Let's hope this isn't a harbinger of what would happen in an Obama administration.

A spokesperson claimed the decision was one the campaign had to make to appeal to swing voters. In fact, those reporters were bumped to make room for others from Jet and Essence, two glossy magazines targeted at African-Americans....

Worse, the campaign bumped news reporters for lifestyle magazines.

This month's Jet cover features a barely clothed Toni Braxton with promises of an interview about her personal trials. In the latest Essence, you can read 'an intimate interview [where] . . . megastar Beyoncé dishes on her new album, Jay-Z and life in the spotlight.'

All three papers endorsed McCain -

Obama's Aunt Sends Your Tax Dollars to ObamaNov 1st, 2008 - 23:57:49

Oh yeah and she's absconded on a deportation order:

Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

I guess for me the sad part is that, here's Obama's aunt living on welfare. Sending him my money and he's an effing millionaire. And what has Barack done for her? Same thing he did for his half brother living on 12 bucks a month in Kenya. Nothing.

So Barack has promised to take care of the little guy if he is elected? Given how he treats his own blood, what chance does any of his supporters have that he will keep the promises he's made to them?

al-Qaeda Wants Obama to WinNov 2nd, 2008 - 00:01:20

The call this week by an al-Qaida leader for Allah to 'humiliate' President Bush and the Republican Party in Tuesday's election was not the first tacit endorsement of Democrat Barack Obama by the terrorist network.

al-Qaida chatter last week said the terrorist group will 'let the Democrats win the presidential elections
, and Obama will take it,' according to Joseph Shahda, an Arabic translator who monitors radical Islamic websites.

Obama's 'goal is to withdraw from Iraq' over a period of time, but 'he will be forced to withdraw his forces from Iraq at a much earlier time,' said the Oct. 23 post, written under the name 'Wissam' on the Al-Hesbah website.

al-Libi's statement that he wants the party of George bush humiliated/defeated as well as the last statement from Zawahiri on the 9/11 release saying, 'The US cannot last more than 8 years.', are both references to the fact that al-Qaeda's leadership prefers/thinks they can win a challenge to Obama.

McCain has fought this with 1 arm tied behind his back. He could have brought out Jeremiah Wright and won this thing weeks ago. He wont, he has put Obama's racist preacher off limits because he sees that as dishonorable and doesn't want to win with the help of the racists. .

Imaging if the situation had been reversed and McCain had been going to a KKK meeting every Sunday for 20 years?

This is what his 'church' taught:

=========================================================

Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run.”

“The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”

'The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes three-strike laws and wants them to sing God Bless America. No! No No! God damn America … '

“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people. Hillary would never know that.”

We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.'

==========================================================

Can you imagine if McCain or a white candidate had listened to that? No, holding someone to a different standard of conduct because of their color is racism. In that respect, McCain has been the victim of a very racist campaign.

Our generation grew up personally witnessing the turmoil of the 1960's and 70's, which shaped our viewpoint of America. During the great civil rights movement of this era a very young radical element evolved and came into being in the Southern white communities of major cities of America.

This element I refer to did embrace the neoconservative civil brainwashing philosophy of Karl Rove.
I too once held that same bitterness, and I won't claim it doesn't some time well up in me. But I finally rejected , and am able to overcome the hatred and bitterness, as I came to understand through my Christian spiritual experience what the true causes of racism and all other hatred and disputes between humans truly stem from.

I now reject the GOP and vote for Obama

A NIXONESQUE MOVE FROM TEAM McCAINNov 2nd, 2008 - 15:33:18

McCain veered off message some time ago, kicking off the campaign bus reporters from newspapers deemed unfriendly to the campaign ;Maureen Dowd ,winner of the Pulitzer Price.

This is bipartisanship?
No this is just the pot and the kettle.

All the bitching, scratching and abusive behaviour of every writer on these M&C pages, is quite useless. OK, it makes good amusement pasting, copying, spouting angry support for one candidate or the other, blind loyalty to parties, abusive comments etc. - BUT WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.

There are an estimated 10-15% floaters or swingers, people who are undecided and not fully committed to any political party. With 240 million eligible voters and around 43% + or say 110 million not voting at all, that leaves about 130 million actual voters.

Floaters at a minimum 10% is 13 million people and THAT is more than enough to decide the result. Any higher and it is a landslide victory.

With the easiest Presidential choice in US history, floaters simply do not know who to vote for. But because of the consistent smear campaign from McCain, it is a certainty that these floaters will at the last minute vote for Obama.

Reason - Disgust of what McCain stands for, dislike of such a neocon smear and traditional conservative attitudes.

I would give it a probability of 0.9+.
Then PRESIDENT ELECT Obama it will be.

Go ahead all you committed Reps and Dems, debate and discusf, it will make a lot of difference , YOU count, YOU are relevant. The FLOATERS too will decide this election and Obama it will be. You can like it or lump it, cry your eyes out or commit Sepukku.

Have a nice bum-fight amongst yourselves until Tuesday, make the most of it, THEN take a bow to Obama. Enjoy the change, it will stay.

Promising future eh ?

Greedy, ignorant, selfish, hateful Republicans do not represent America anymore. The sick, the young and the elderly are no longer seen as a wealth-robbing scourge on society, at least by most folks.

Hopefully, the rest of the world,(except maybe the fawning third world) will forgive us this dark, shameful period in our history.

For those of you pining for the gilded age of corporate rule over the hapless masses, you've still got Mexico.

RE: '...in Barack Obama, you are not getting Bill Cosby, you are getting a very well disguised version of Louis Farrakhan.'

...and I'm sure Louis Farrakhan would have chosen Joseph Biden as his running mate. Perhaps, Joe Biden is a very well disguised version of Osama Bin Ladin!

Happy voting. Long live our blasted Republic!!!
