Michigan, Wisconsin to Obama; North Dakota, Kansas to McCain (Extra)

Washington - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has captured the key states of Michigan and Wisconsin, US networks projected as soon as polls in those states closed Tuesday, while McCain's new wins included North Dakota and Kansas.
Michigan, a state with 17 electoral votes that has severely suffered from the faltering US economy, was once considered a possibility for McCain, but he pulled his campaign operation out of the state in September.
US networks also projected wins for Obama in Rhode Island, Minnesota and New York as polls closed in those states at 9 pm (0200 GMT). McCain grabbed North Dakota, Arkansas, Kansas, Wyoming.
The biggest swing state to fall so far has been Pennsylvania, which networks projected for Obama. Georgia, a southern state Obama had hoped to compete in, went in favour of McCain.
Key swing states Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and Colorado were still up for grabs as results continued to stream in from across the country.
