UPDATE-5: Obama leads McCain 207-135 in electoral tally

Nov 5, 2008, 2:31 GMT

Washington - Democrat Barack Obama boosted his lead over Republican John McCain in the electoral college, claiming 207 votes in elections Tuesday after capturing the key battleground state of Ohio, according to projections by major US news networks.

The complex electoral college system awards each of the 50 states' and the District of Columbia's electoral votes to the candidate who prevails in the state's popular vote. A candidate needs 270 votes to clinch the White House.

At least two television networks have projected the winner in the following states: <#>

I knew some day it would happen but i never thought in my lifetime I would see former americans throw away the whole foundation of the founding of their country to European socialism. It is amazing that people from those countries come here to get away from socialism, its 60-70 and 80% tax rates, invasive government policies into private lives, indoctrination of children, limits on freedom of speech, no right to bear arms and the list goes on and on but that is exactly what americans have voted for themselves. I have frineds from socialist countries who left and came here to seek freedom on all levels and they are shocked at what is happening tonight in america. They have told me once in place it will never change back no matter what the people want. 232 years and its over. We did exactly what Franklin warned us about. They gave us a democracy within a republic but it would be only up to us if we could keep it or not. We didn't. People I guaranty you it will not be too far down the road and you will be sorry. But please spare us who warned you the whining baby pants crying. You reap what you sow.
