Washington - President-elect Barack Obama spoke with world leaders by telephone on Thursday, two days after his election and ahead of next week's financial summit of the Group of 20 countries in Washington.
Obama spoke with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, Mexican President Felipe Calderon and South Korean President Lee, broadcaster CNN reported.
Obama is expected to meet with several foreign leaders during a summit of 20 nations November 14-15 in Washington to address the global financial crisis.
The White House has not said whether Obama will be a full participant in the summit, but he is expected to be briefed on the meetings.

The ideology from the republican party has gradually become obsolete for different reasons.
A small government catering only for the business elite ,multiplying 'intelligence gathering agencies',a militaristic undertone and believing in some sort of supremacy of the nation 'choosen' by 'god' is based on nothing more than pride and propaganda,not factual policy.
In these times of economical,financia and environmentical turmoil wat IS needed is a potent government ,combining efficient and specialized agencies capable of dealing with these probelems.Can anybody even start to comprehend the insane thoughts of leaving the response tothese urgent issues to 'market mechanisms'?We would all be dead and buried before the market would respons to such a n incredible challenge such as global warming.And THAT is precisely why the GOP denies the urgency of tackling this problem.In the GOP when facts collide with ideology,facts must be wrong.The insane building up of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere,the pollution of the seas,the disappearing of th rainforrests,he depletion of natural ressources,the dsertification of the planet;,the emerging of dangerous new weather patterns and much mùuch more,it has all been denied too long by the republican ideology which has useed all the tricks in the books to deny or diminish ,obfuscate or cansure the symptoms of thee.All in the name of belief in small government,magic markets curing all mistakes and side effects.
No answer is given to address the economical crisis,the financial crisis and the environmental crisis at all from inside the GOP.And that is precisely the reason of the well ochestrated smear campaign that has been waged by them;there simply was nothing left in their ideas that fits reality anymore.
Yet they cling to power as they are the instrument used by coporate tycoons to obtain what they want.
The problem however is that in the present circumstances this instrument (the state ) has become dysfunctionnal even for big parts of the corporate system.
Henry Ford used to pay his workers decent wages,as he said it would enable them to buy one of his cars.
And there we have the essence of the new problem.Due to unemployment,failing health care,very low minimum wages ,outsouring of activities and the moving of production jobs to low salay countries there is a lack ofconsumer growth inside the USA.Indeed what i the point of moving industrial activity to China if the result is impoverishment of the USA with asz secundary result that the goods made in CHina find no buyers in the USA?
The financial crisis was the strongest possible warning that the small government ,weak in it's functioning and regulating of corporate world was part of the cause of the crisis.The failure was general and widespread .It was not only Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac as the GOP now claims.Every aspect of the financial market is concerned,including the insurance branch .
The USA can only climb out of the crisis by breaking with the past,an administration capable of imposing measures to combat climate change,o direct the industry in the right direction,create a pool of opportunities,divert from armament to the technology for renewable energy is needed,urgent.It wont happen at all if things from the past are to become the guidnce to the future.Creative political thyinking ,breaking with the dogmatical bible from the GOP economy relying on Milton Friedman and reaganomics are mandatory for a better future.

Your next 4 years will be a turning point in US history and planet earth. CHANGE, your advisors and high stake investors offer the nation will undoubtedly be the same rhetoric and empty promises that make up a political campaign, that campaigns for appointment for any public office in America.
The White House will be the Black House to some, the Aryan Brothers of America will not be so happy, but yet will blame you and your staff if you fail, which will reinforce their belief that the Aryan Nation is the true leader for America. The religious zealots will be busy bees making nests to survive the onslaught of lies, corruption and deceit. Business enterprises and other competing nations will capitalize off of your inexperience in the art of corruption and murder. The organized crime organizations from different nations including our own will benefit from the lack of control over national crime.
Military governments including our own will test your tolerance to pain and deception and trick you into needless and profitable domestic and international conflict. You will no doubt attempt to colorize your staff to soften the race conflict once in office.
As President you will be President. Nations will respect you only for your title of office. Americans will soon see after your appointment as President that your intentions were manipulated by those that make the rules. You will fill the spot in history as planned, and nothing more.
You will never while in office be able to pull the troops from conflict in any land we are engaged in. As a matter of fact we as a nation will be engaged in a new conflict of war, which will galvanize Americans to seek a different form of government and a different and honest Congress.
You will attempt to shore up Americas problems with false promise and lies, because you cannot directly affect the CHANGE you promised.
Your frustration will be your downfall while in office, and your co-dependence on those that you trust will also add to your demise.
Our Armed Forces in rank will respect you as good soldiers they are, but those under them will not, and for good reasons, that only a good soldier knows.
America will not be America until its government respects the People, and tells the truth. America is a Republic, not a Democracy or Fascist Government or is it?
Until you can walk thru the streets and neighborhoods of America unaided by Secret Service or any other law enforcement agency you will not be respected by the many, only by the fearful and selfish few. Americans can protect their leaders if they are honest and respectful of the people they were elected to serve. Our Government has forsaken us for many hundreds of years, and now we will wait until your 4 years are finished for us to come to fruition.

We have, roughly, one too many auto manufacturers in the U.S. One needs to go, preferably via buyout, or by model termination. About half the models will never make money for whatever company ends up owning them.
There are also too many dealers, because after all, there are too many models and divisions.
Now, $50 billion tax dollars are going to feed this beast under the guise of 'fuel efficent auto manufacture' as if the imports are not, already, the leading edge in fuel efficency. What this means is that you are buying an american car whether you want to or not.
In the end, we'll be begging for the return to something as simple, and cheap, as Cheney and halliburton.
