Obama chooses former Clinton aide to head budget office

Nov 25, 2008, 18:43 GMT

Washington - President-elect Barack Obama announced Tuesday that he has selected an economic advisor from Bill Clinton's administration to head the White House office that oversees the federal budget.

Peter Orszag, 39, will leave his post as director of the Congressional Budget Office to head the Office of Management and Budget if his nomination is approved by the Senate.

Obama touted Orszag as someone who can help identify wasteful spending and save taxpayer dollars while the United States tries to recover from the growing economic crisis.

Obama has moved quickly to announce his economic team to gain the confidence of Americans that his administration will be poised to take the reins from President George W Bush in January 20 and reverse the economic downturn.

'Given the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in, I think it is very important for the American people to understand we are putting together a first class team,' Obama said at a press conference in Chicago.

Obama on Monday named Timothy Geithner to head the Treasury Department and Larry Summers as his top White House economic advisor. Summer served as Treasury secretary under Clinton.

..I'm afraid so. After all, if all you ever were was a community organizer. you are going to have to tap a real politician, like the Clintons, for real political talent (virtually ALL of his picks are old Clintonites). It almost makes you wonder why they just didn't nominate Hillary. Musta been the white skin...

President-elect Obama is trying to be the world's greatest eclectic. He wants to be Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Ike and FDR all rolled into one oval. He really is trying to do the best he knows how to do. This administration is NOT going to be a third round of Clintonism. The Clintons had better circumstances to with which to work. The Obama Administration is going to be remembered as a repeat of the Carter Administration.

...he's the only one, besides Barak himself, who ISN'T from the Clinton administration!

Think about it: The Clintons were FREE traders! ALL of their advice is going to revolve around this! Hillary will baracade herself at Foggy Bottom, and her minions are sprinkled all through the administration.

There are about 3000 of them, at all levels, but so far, they occupy critical cabinet posts and middle positions. Whatever Obama really believes, will have to sift through ll of them to get done, and THEY already know what they want!

Yep, this is supposed to represent 'change'

dream on.
