Obama raised record 745 million dollars in presidential campaign

Dec 5, 2008, 18:29 GMT

Washington - US president-elect Barack Obama raised 745 million dollars over the course of his successful White House run, shattering previous fundraising records and more than double that of his rival John McCain, according to final campaign filings released Friday.

The record intake included 104 million dollars raised between October 16 and November 24, giving Obama a massive fundraising advantage in the US election's waning weeks and helping propel him to victory on November 4.

The October-November fund-raising was only his second-best period, after more than 150 million dollars were taken in donations in September, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

The huge campaign coffers allowed Obama to heavily outspend McCain on television commercials and build ground operations in all 50 states in the run-up to the elections.

Obama collected contributions from nearly 4 million donors over the course of his campaign, also a record. In total he received more money than all the 2004 presidential candidates combined.

Obama became the first ever presidential candidate to forego government financing for the general election, which officially begins in September after the parties' nominating conventions, allowing him to raise as much money as he wanted in the final few months.

McCain by contrast raised under 350 million dollars during the primaries and election. From September to November he was limited to the 84.1 million dollars he accepted in federal funds.

..about a President who never served, has little experience at anything, got in with a weak opponent, hired a bunch of guys from the previous president, is givng big, greenhouse gas-producing corporations (G.M, Ford, Chrysler)billions of dollars, cozy with Big Coal, has some slimey friends in the Real Estate and savings & loan business, and is sending an additional 20,000 troops to Afghanistan as to why the previous guy's profile is so objectionable?

SP4 idiot stick. I can answer your stupid questions (as could anyone that can count to 10). Because the previous guy completely and totally failed. Not hard to combat that.

Right before the election you were touting McSame's ability, not you call him weak? I guess from a rightwing neo-con nutball that is SOP.

Never mind about Bubba the new Al Jolson impersonator President-elect and his floundering around, pay attention to one of our own Icons. A man whose knowledge of Current Affairs is unsurpassed by any - YES ! it is our very own revered and highly respected SP4 !

The man has a string of degrees as long as your arm - OK he did actually buy them from a Bangladesh 'You name it - we got it' company at $10 each, but so what, our Asian medical doctors who take your brain out and give you another one, got their qualifications from the same company.

I doubt if ESS PEE has the technical skills to design a mousetrap, but in Current Affairs - he is unbeatable.

I cannot personally comprehend the illiterate morons who are only able to write abusive comments about ESS PEE. Still when you have reached the exulted position of GURU EXTRAORDINAIRE, one can expect abuse from the common proletariat who have not had the privilege of such a high level of education.

ESS PEE and me have had our differences. I have kicked him in the crutch a few times and he has responded like a true gentleman, with literary artistry, but very effective nevertheless. We don`t see eye-to-eye on everything. Not sure he knows who or where I am.

To be honest, my technique was drummed into me by airborne training - hit hard and fast - no pussy-footing about. The method of the Cutlass. ESS PEE on the other hand behaves like the master swordsman wielding a rapier. Two entirely different techniques having equally effective results.

SO, you motley lot, be kind to ESS PEE our unopposed Guru of extreme knowledge.

I will post this note on other pages if need be - IT JUST HAS TO BE READ.

SP4: No, Eddie McBongDec 5th, 2008 - 22:59:28

..I only recited McCain's resume' not his abilities.

Granted, he did attend the hardest undergrad school in America and graduate, learned to fly off the deck of a carrier, and served the state of Arizona faithfully, for 25 years, or so, but cannot compete with a community organizer who never served, never worked on Wall Street, never captained a corporation nor can prove he ever organized anything concrete, who, nonetheless is touted as having more experience than the Governor of Alaska, and without demosntration is supposedly her intellectual giant, when that same resume' simply does not reflect any such facts.

He has though, an uncanny resemblence to the last guy i.e. as I showed above, but for some reason is excused from all these glaring similarities simply because he is either black, a libnazi, or both.

None of that makes me either wrong, Eddie, or guilty of bias, even if I were an idiot stick, like your biological father put you up for adoption for.

Nonetheless, you gave, for once, a rational answer even if it did not address the question. I'll admit, it is still retarded, but for you, it is real progress. We here appreciate any progress you make, even if it emanates from the short bus of Libnazi pseudoidealism.

Whatever intelligent spewing SP has tried to do, he knocks it all down with the crap like he posted above. A big majority of the public is standing behind Obama and has high hopes for the future with him at the helm. After the miserable last 8 years this country has suffered through, and the end results, it's not going to be turned around any time soon, so the skeptics need to back off a little and think positive for a change - it might even make their day.

SP4: sure...guilty as charged....Dec 7th, 2008 - 17:13:07

..but the irony is a foot thick, undeniable and to a republican, funny:

Here is Obama, who campaigned on the green culture, advocating the meting out of billions to what can only be described as the world's premier producer of greenhouse gases: the american auto companies, in order to prop up his union constituancy.

Here is Obama, who ostensibly ran on an anti-war stance, re-employing the architect of the Iraq success Gates, and who is boning up to add 20,000 troops to Afghanistan, and he doesn't even have to say 'WMD's, his sychophantic flock just marches to his tune like a hip-hop pied piper.

Here is Obama, who ran on the stance that NAFTA was flawed, re-employing the EXACT people who greenlighted it with all of it's shortcomings and the political left with another case of total(itarian) blindness and amnesia as in 1994.

That all being the case, one has to wonder just how bad the old days were, and what is so special about Barak Obama, and it speaks volumes to the libnazi left and their total sham of a political philosophy coupled with their ability to lead the automatons they call a flock for very good reason. The only thing missing is little Po Peep.

After all, can you really see Sara Palin advocating an open-ended commitment to the Auto companies? Probably not, but then again, she has more experience at this sort of thing...

..he did...lots and lots...of money. Let's look at the payoffs:

Trade unions - buying their jobs at the failed auto companies for them at about a billion per state.

Feel better now?

Trade Unions (public) - billions in unfunded expenditures for 'infrastructure' spending promised.

Feel better now?

Investment bankers - billions in prop ups for the guys who greased the skids like Countrywide

Feel Better now?

Warren Buffet - now here's my favorite: Who is the single most likely person to benefit from free trade agreements and MFN status for China in the last 13 years? WHO was on the board of Wal-Mart (Hillary) and WHO is now backing these lemons?

Warren

...and why???

Now, go add all the 'money' Obama got and ask yourself why...
