US Defence Secretary Gates calls for more pressure on Iran

Dec 13, 2008, 8:07 GMT

Manama, Bahrain - US Defence Secretary Robert Gates called on the international community to exercise more economic pressure on Iran in line with UN resolutions to help bring a halt to its nuclear programme and expanding power in the region.

Gates, who was speaking during an address to the Manama Dialogue security conference in Bahrain, also urged Gulf countries to include Iraq in the Gulf Cooperation Council and forgive Baghdad's debts.

He also said that despite the projected increase in the number of troops in Afghanistan, the solution to the situation there did not lie in increasing troops but in better training Afghani government troops to face threats from the Taliban and al-Qaeda, which, he emphasized, was a priority for the incoming US administration.

Trust Mr. Gates. George Bush picked him for a reason. He gets the job done, regardless of the sensitivities or the 'moods' of the American media. Thank you Mr. President.
When it comes to Mr. Colin Powell however, what a Zebra!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's flip flopping on so much these days....what ever happened to his dignity as a fighting man?? He's now lambasting Sarah Palin! She never polarized the Republican party--She Galvanized it!!!.......Sorry Powell can't see that! He's got 'femalephobia.' What's everybody afraid of?? A woman president? Wake the Fu-k up wimps! A female raised you (most of you) from birth!! What's your problem??
Mr Powell tends to hide behinf his wifes wishes, and, well, maybe he should. (She saved us from him!! She recommended or pushed him NOT to throw his hat into the presidential ring a while back!---Thank you!!!!!)
Don't be afraid of female leadership boys and girls out there. Compared to Obama, where could it hurt?

PARANOIADec 13th, 2008 - 17:22:00

The great American paranoia about somebody out there being a threat to Momma is popping up again.

What the devil do these boneheads in Government and the military think the world is doing ?

Why pick on Iran ? The most massive array of destructive toys ever assembled cannot wait to be used against relatively weak nations.

Oh yes ! the BIG US Incredible Hulk is happy to threaten small nations, but not so happy to threaten larger nations or those who give two fingers of defiance to the Jolly Green American giant. We don`t even dare to blow Osama Bin laden and his bunch of savages to hell, even though we know within inches where they are. This could be done in ONE single day, but NO we let them live on happily.

We attack all sorts of weaker nations including Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention Grenada, Honduras, Nicaragua, Libya, Korea, Vietnam and God knows who else the White House bully boys decide to clobber. But when it comes to China, Russia, France, UK, India and of course that little piece of shit called Israel - we just do a perfect impression of an Ostrich.

What is wrong with Iran having nuclear weapons ? Everybody else has, including Jewish occupied Palestine.

Even when Iran or these other tin-pot countries get their nuclear toys, they have no ability to deliver them. AND if they even tried and the dreaded missile actually hit the target without blowing itself up in mid-air, their land would be reduced back to the Stone Age minutes later.

For all the drum banging that these imbeciles in the Pentagon and White House do and all the massive arsenal at their disposal, a few Gooks on bicycles ran the cream of our Special Forces, Airborne, Rangers and all the other US boy scouts out of Vietnam with their tails between their legs.

You could not see their arses for dust in their panic to get home to good old USA. The speed they conjured up getting out of Saigon was indecent and even surpassed that record breaking sprint by Custer & Co, running away from native Americans on the Little Big-Horn.

For God`s sake have some dignity and show some responsibility and courage.
Let these banana republics have their nuclear toys - just make it VERY clear that if they use them, then annihilation will come within minutes.

..libnazi 'lets not worry until it's over' mentality. Perhaps this is the time to ask yourself if the leaders of a nation like Iran, really care if their citizens are 'annihilated', or how that will help the millions dead, for something that could be nipped in the bud, were there a person willing to d0 the hard work of securing this threat.

Liberals feel that you and I need to be held hostage in order to advance some greater good. Gee...thanks a pantload.

Hogwash.

Once Iran gets these weapons, who is, really, in charge of their security, or their use? How does deterrrence work in the face of a person, or persons, who have more regard for death than life?

PEE INTO THE WIND - YOU GET YOUR OWN BACKDec 14th, 2008 - 00:34:53

After WW2, Persia became a favorite cuddly toy of the US due to the fear of Communism, confrontation with the Russians and the so called 'Cold War'.

The Shah of Persia, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi had taken over from the previous Shah in 1941 and ruled for 37 years until 1978-9. He was a despot who lived a lavish, gold-plated existence at the expense of the Persian people, whom he ruled with a brutal and deprivation regime.

Due to the Communist threat and the immense importance of petroleum oil supplies from the Gulf - as always the sacred cow of all American life - the Shah signed a military alliance with the US, in return for massive funding of precious dollars and assurance that he would be kept in power.

It all went POP ! in 1979, when the Persian people revolted in a bloody coup led by Ayatollah Khomeini. The despot Shah was forced into exile and Persia became an Islamic Republic, renamed Iran and has remained so until the present day.

IF the US had not supported this evil Shah with billions of dollars and huge military might, plus the same support for Israel, the 50 year old Middle East troubles would never have happened.

Iran would not now be rules by a bunch of death-wish fanatics posing a nuclear threat and all the past horrors of Muslim reaction against the US would never have occurred.

Listen here you US Master Race - IF YOU PISS INTO THE WIND, YOU GET YOUR OWN BACK !

Even if we had not supported the Shah, it is likely the same folks would have succeeded to power, only sooner. The idea that the ending would be any diiferent is wishful thinking, at best. One only has to look to Afghanistan, a nation we helped liberate with billions of dollars to see what gratitude buys you.

As always the absolute epitome of diplomacy and reason, but my revered Guru of all knowledge, we have ;-

Yes, perhaps the same lovely people would have eventually dismembered that evil god incarnate lump of crap called the Shah, BUT IF America HAD NOT propped up this vile despot in power for so many years to impoverish and brutally oppress his subjects, then ;-

The vicious hatred of America for doing it would NOT be there - would it ? The Islamists BLAME America for prolonging their suffering under this tyrant.

AND they certainly went into top gear on hatred when pea-nut brained Jimmy Carter allowed this lump of self opinionated Persian crap to receive medical treatment for his cancer in the UNITED STATES !

Thank God it was not successful - the bugger died soon afterwards.

Gaiacomm International to develop Defeat IED technology

Gaiacomm International will develop Counter (defeat) IED technology for the US Military to be used in Iraq, Afghanistan and other conflict zones. This technology is currently classified because of its accurate nature of detection. When deployed it will be able to detect and disable any device in the ground, on person (suicide bombers), inside vehicle or building's within a determined range, also classified. Soldiers are dying thus, the emphasis on accurate detection. Other technologies currently in the field simply do not operate as planned, thus the need for Gaiacomm's technology.
Gaiacomm also designs arcane electromagnetic weapons systems for use in large areas of complete destruction.

HELLOO ESS PEEDec 14th, 2008 - 21:35:06

Back to Iran.

Yeah ESS PEE, the big ole YOO ESS HAY really pissed into the wind on Israel and got the lot back with interest.

At least the Iranian reaction would have been much milder if the US had not forced them to endure years of immense suffering under the despot tyrant Shah by keeping him in power.

Whilst they obviously would not exactly have been bed pals with the US for supporting the Jewish invaders of Palestine, the blame for their own peoples misery could not have been placed at your door.

The grand foreign policy master stroke by the brainless morons in the US Government of propping up Israel 60 years ago, did not just upset Iran - it inflamed the entire Middle East with intense hatred of all-American from that day to this.

None of the 100,000`s of American lives would have been lost, or the destruction of countless US collateral would ever have happened.

I hope the US administrations feel proud to have committed their people to so much death and destruction. Seems to be an American addiction.

I have a slight suspicion that the families of the recipients of all this horror may not feel quite so proud of their country.

GOD BLESS AMERICA ( FOR ALL THE EVIL AND MURDEROUS SINS COMMITTED )
