Obama inquiry finds no 'inappropriate' contact with Blagojevich
Dec 23, 2008, 21:50 GMT
Washington - President-elect Barack Obama's team had no 'inappropriate' discussions with scandal-plagued Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about naming a successor to the Senate, according to a report on an internal inquiry released Tuesday.
The long-awaited report by Obama's legal team said that chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was the only person who had direct contact with the embattled governor, who was arrested earlier this month for widespread public corruption.
The top charge was that Blagojevich sought to solicit bribes for Obama's vacant Senate seat, according to conversations captured by federal authorities who had wiretapped his office.
Neither Obama nor his team was never implicated in the investigation, but his relations with Blagojevich came under close media scrutiny and the scandal has been a distraction in an otherwise smooth transition to the White House.
Obama gave up his position as an Illinois senator soon after winning the November 4 general election. Governor Blagojevich has sole authority to name a successor.
Obama's team offered Blagojevich a list of six people they considered qualified for the Senate job. Emanuel had 'one or two' conversations with Blagojevich and another four conversations with his chief of staff about different candidates' merits, the report said.
'There was nothing at all inappropriate about those conversations,' said Obama's chief counsel Greg Craig. 'No-one in the Obama circle was aware of what was gong on in the governor's office or the governor's mind.'
The Illinois legislature is now considering a special election for Obama's post. Blagojevich has refused to resign. State lawmakers have begun impeachment proceedings.

Now that Obama is the savior all of the Obama groupies will obey the edict from the savior.
So, the justice system for the president is still the same in the U.S.:
'Innocent until proven innocent by self-reporting'
While for the common man, the saying goes:
'Innocent until you can't pay your lawyer enough to keep you that way'
And, if you are an alleged muslim terrorist:
'Guilty before the trial and guilty after the trial'
Of course, then there are the Bush groupies:
'Guilty as sin if you are a Democrat, untouchable if you are a Republican'
For Mexican drug warlords:
'Innocent as long as you can cut a deal with the justice department'
How many ways can the U.S. society butcher this once enlightening proverb. Just to remind the typical U.S. citizen moron, the actual phrase is: 'Innocent until proven guilty'. Of course, this is just a reminder to a tone deaf population.
Oh, one more because of the huge judicial loophole for fraud and white collar crime: For financial service company CEOs, bankers and traders:
'Innocent until the pyramid game ends and then still innocent if you pulled in enough suckers, otherwise guilty as sin'
And obviously for congress:
'Innocent during the pyramid game, innocent after the pyramid game ... and just a reminder: Incompetence and financial dereliction is NOT a crime, so innocent on all accounts.'

Try and come up with something meaningful. I realize this would necessitate leaving the comfort of your mom's basement, which, at age 45 is really kind of an embarrassment, you living there and all, but try anyway.
In fact, go to a book repository...we call them libraries...and attempt to inform yourself. I realize it's a stretch, but my weakness is believing in people. This way, when you battle wits with me, you will be, at the best you can hope for: half-armed.
Try to contain your giant ego over the holidays and have a Merry Christmas!
...I have 22 inches of snow on my deck and no snow removal on my road.
Merry Christmas.
...what, exactly, is that supoosed to mean? They did not say dirty words.
I think, Barak, we're interested if you had any discussions that were illegal.
No, Mr. Rezko, not a chance.
You say:'Try and come up with something meaningful. I realize this would necessitate leaving the comfort of your mom's basement, which, at age 45 is really kind of an embarrassment, you living there and all, but try anyway.'
There you go, talking to yourself again.
'In fact, go to a book repository...we call them libraries...'
EssPee wouldn't know what a book is, even when used as a suppository.
bah humbug to you and your stupid comment.
