Obama headed for Canada

Washington/Ottawa - US President Barack Obama's first foreign visit was to begin later Thursday with his departure for Ottawa to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The scheduled seven-hour visit to the US neighbour to the north was expected to have trade, the global economic crisis and the NATO mission in Afghanistan on the agenda.
Trade between the two countries is valued at 1.5 billion dollars a day. Obama has vowed to combat protectionist impulses, which often grow during periods of economic hardship.
Canada has about 2,700 soldiers in Kandahar, the most volatile province of Afghanistan. With 108 dead and over 300 wounded, Canada has has great troop casualties per capita than any other NATO country in Afghanistan, and Ottawa has issued a 2011 deadline for its own pullout from the conflict.

The 'FEDERAL HOUSING ENTERPRISE REGULATORY REFORM ACT OF 2005' would have headed this off but it was killed in the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs by Chris Dodd who recieved the most money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
President Bush sought to rein in Fannie and Freddie in 2003.
The Democratic response to Bush in 2003:
“These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. “The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”
Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed.

SP4 - whether anything was preventable or not is quite irrelevant now. You need to live in the present and think about the future, not wallow in your fantasies of past events. You're a typical example of the blame culture - it is always someone else's fault so can can pretend you are superior and hide your own failures.
However, our love is dependent on the revoking of NAFTA, and fulfilling your campaign promise to this effect.
Yes, Obama DID make a campaign promise that he would 'unilaterally renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement', going so far as to call it 'devastating' and 'a big mistake'. So Mr. Obama.. we, the people of the U.S. expect you to live up to your oath to repeal the evil job-stealing NAFTA and restore the U.S. economy to its once former glory.
This will be Obama's first test of character in office, and we shall see just how honorable his word really is. Will his actions live up to his words? Or is he just another lying politician who just said anything he could to get elected?

Barack Obama as next President of The United States of America
The die is cast and for reasons that only a privileged few know, you Sir, will be the next President of the United States of America. Your next 4 years will be a turning point in US history and planet earth. CHANGE, your advisors and high stake investors offer the nation will undoubtedly be the same rhetoric and empty promises that make up a political campaign, that campaigns for appointment for any public office in America.
The White House will be the Black House to some, the Aryan Brothers of America will not be so happy, but yet will blame you and your staff if you fail, which will reinforce their belief that the Aryan Nation is the true leader for America. The religious zealots will be busy bees making nests to survive the onslaught of lies, corruption and deceit. You will attempt to shore up Americas problems with false promise and lies, because you cannot directly affect the CHANGE you promised.
Your frustration will be your downfall while in office, and your co-dependence on those that you trust will also add to your demise.
Our Armed Forces in rank will respect you as good soldiers they are, but those under them will not, and for good reasons, that only a good soldier knows.
America will not be America until its government respects the People, and tells the truth. America is a Republic, not a Democracy or Fascist Government or is it?
Until you can walk thru the streets and neighborhoods of America unaided by Secret Service or any other law enforcement agency you will not be respected by the many, only by the fearful and selfish few. Americans can protect their leaders if they are honest and respectful of the people they were elected to serve. Our Government has forsaken us for many hundreds of years, and now we will wait until your 4 years are finished for us to come to fruition.

He could learn a lot: Canada's banking system is listed as the World's safest - the USA system is 44th ! Move your money now before another Texan idiot (and that isn't just George Bush) loses it for you
