Reports: Vietnamese immigrants at US shooting site (1st Lead)

Washington - A large number of Vietnamese who were preparing to become US citizens were in the building Friday in upstate New York where a gunman killed 13 people, media reports said.
The shootings took place at the American Civic Association Building in the city of Binghamton, New York, a place that provides immigration and refugee services, including language classes.
In addition to the dead, five people were wounded and being treated at local hospitals. The suspected killer, age 42, was found dead in the building with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his head after dozens of hostages were held for several hours, reports said.
At one point during the killings and hostage crisis, police also reportedly asked for a Vietnamese translator.
Some people were actually taking their examinations to become US citizens at the time of the shooting, according to US Vice President Joe Biden.
'We've got to figure out a way to deal with this senseless, senseless violence,' said Biden at a conference in New York city.
New York Governor David Paterson, who confirmed in broadcast remarks that at least 13 people were dead, condemned the 'brutal' violence.
'This is a tragic day for New York,' Paterson said.

This is the result of this country's ignorance. What the news won't tell you is why he committed this act of terror. He reacted to the ignorance of the people who think they own this country, making fun of his accent. What do you think would happen if you do some stupid act like that? I sincerely don't blame him for what happened as he was just reacting to what they did and they can not be blind as to why he did it. They finally did it to the wrong person, that's all and received the consequenses for it. History has already taught us that and yet ignorant people still won't learn. You know who you are out there, and there's about 50 million of you living in this country. Ignorance is bliss but stupidity is the cause of effect. WHy dId iT happEn? Probably bEcause yOu're a stuPid LittlE idiot.
