Obama insists economy is "back from the brink"

Jul 23, 2009, 0:16 GMT

Washington - US President Barack Obama on Wednesday said the country's struggling economy was on its way to recovery, but warned that the job market will be the last thing to return to normal.

In an evening press conference at the White House, Obama defended his own prescriptions for nursing the economy back to health and urged the US public to give his plans more time to work.

'We have been able to pull our economy back from the brink,' Obama said in his opening remarks, noting that he inherited an economy mired in its worst recession in decades.

'I'll be honest with you - new hiring is always one of the last things to bounce back after a recession,' he said.

While there have been signs that the US economy is improving, Obama's administration has faced growing unease as unemployment continues to rise by the hundreds of thousands. The jobless rate hit 9.5 per cent in June, its highest level in more than a quarter- century.

WHEN are you going to ban SP4's IP? M&C used to be a site of intelligent discourse. Now it is nothing more than a cess pool of sh*t slinging, done at the instigation of SP4. Many readers have left as a result.
I see the following has been posted on a site that is visited by millions, each day. Your reputation is declining. Your readership is declining Advertising revenues will decline in short order. Do something proactive and flush SP4 down the porcelain cionvenience, where he belongs.

'The comments are not moderated at the point of publishing, but rather moderation is done after they are posted live on the site, on a rolling basis. This allows for a flow of conversation between users. For the past 2 years the site's comment section has been taken over by a racist, bigoted, foul-mouthed web troll, who continually violates the rules of the site. Many readers have left, in utter disgust, as a result of the decline from a site of intelligent discourse into a cess pool of muck slinging. The editors of the site don't seem to care and continually dismiss pleas from readers to ban the Troll's IP.'

Have a nice day, editors, and enjoy your paycheques. While you can.

SP4 a reminder of GOP idiot demographicsJul 23rd, 2009 - 01:23:23

It's remarkable how retarded some of the voices of the GOP have become.

Just when I think that their low point was actually running Sarah Palin as #2 for the country, Lou Dobbs appears brainwashed about Obama's birth certificate.

He, Palin, and even SP4 are the voices trying to round up support from the uneducated imbeciles left as the GOP voter base in key districts in the South, in particular. These people think that their forbears rode dinosaurs, and that the earth is a couple thousand years old.

When attacked, they throw up 'prove it to me' straw-man arguments, and never answer the question. Here's a good link on Palin and the crap that she pulls:

www.huffingtonpost.com/shannyn-moore/its-not-sarahs-faultjust_b_240687. html

(An excerpt - more in the link)

A 10 Month Accounting of Blame...

Troopergate was her brother-in-law's fault.

Walt Monegan was a rogue commissioner.

Neglecting a vetting of Palin's appointed replacement of Commissioner Monegan wasn't her fault, she didn't know Chuck Kopp had a sexual harassment charge. His 14 day employment was rewarded with a $10,000 severance package.

Her public press conference, pro-Pebble Mine stance during a contentious election was the fault of a 'Governor's hat' wardrobe malfunction and possibly Tim Griffin.

The legislative investigation wasn't her doing. It was a 'Democratic driven, partisan witch hunt' voted on by 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats after Sarah Palin challenged them with Bush-like bravado 'Bring it on!'

(These people are full of crap, and someone should just stand up and say so. Dobbs and others earn a lot of money for their lies, and that money comes from the idiots who look for these plots and stupid stories. So far as I know, SP4 does it for nothing - and that makes him even dumber)

I never posted on this article. Have you ever aksed yourself how weak minded a person has to be to want to reject a poster on M&C? How afraid can a single person be of someone's point of view, that they lash out at a person evewn when he does not post? How insecure can a single person be to be so frightened of words? Have I ever advocated that any person should be banned for posting, even in the face of their glaring insults to my person?

Not once.

What is it about libnazis, that they are so afraid of being confronted that they wish to stifle opinion? I say do whatever you want to, but if you read my posts, you'll notice far less in the way of personal insults than the other posters direct at me.

Who cares if you haven't posted on this thread before. That is a non sequitur. The rest of your post is mere claptrap from a drug addled brain. Speaking of 'how weak minded a person has to be,' you must be talking about yourself, again. Who cares about the insults thrown at you. YOU start it, and you get a fair return. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, before there comes a concerted campaign to get your racist, bigoted, foul-mouthed carcass thrown out of here. This is not your personal toilet, SP. Your time is over.

Is there anyone out there that knows SP4's IP? Please publish it all over this site. With that information it is an easy step to giving the local web troll the spamming he so richly deserves.

SP STILL neds to learn how to use a spell check:
'aksed'
'evewn'

About: SP4: an open letter to the editorsJul 23rd, 2009 - 02:45:51

There goes SP whining about how hard-done by he is. He is like a blushing bride protesting her innoicence while in fact she is nothing but a skank, a fifty-year-old, worn out old ho.
Yes, SP has the whine down perfectly, it is always someone else's fault. He should be singing that childhood tune: 'Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, going to the garden to eat worms.'
Go suck on a worm, SP. That's about all you're good for.

We know you have not posted 'on this article' as nothing stupid has been posted here. You are so stupid you just don't get it. We don't want you banned because of your views, we want you banned because your posts are either all lies, made up quotes, misstatements (or a combination of the three), all with misspelled words, horrible sentence structure and about as intelligent as sledge hammer. You ask for insults because you are so stupid!

'Not once.'

All right two words and not one misspelled. Wew-hoo for you Idiots Stick.

'What is it about libnazis, that they are so afraid of being confronted that they wish to stifle opinion? I say do whatever you want to, but if you read my posts, you'll notice far less in the way of personal insults than the other posters direct at me.'

Confronted? Confronted with what. You have a hard time confronting anyone with your failures of the last 8 years. In order to confront anyone yo have to do a better job. Any time you post you insult people, 'Normal' people are insulted by ignorant ranters who have to curse to make a point, call everyone that does not agree with them names, and refuse to admit when they are wrong. One last thing on your attempt to pat yourself on the back, no one is 'afraid' of any of the lies you try and spread, just tired of your total lack of class.

Please quit thinking you are more than a stupid puppet for the right wing idiots out there that would not give you the sweat off their brow and somehow have you convinced you are special---you are nothing more than an Idiots Stick.

@ SP4: oh yeah, the articleJul 23rd, 2009 - 03:02:48

'I am wondering if any news person out there has asked this president just how he is rationalizing 'back from the brink'????'

You have no idea how bad it could have been you ignorant Oregon redneck. Credit has eased, companies are reporting record profits and if you were intelligent enough to be able to read the Wall Street Journal (one of your newspapers) you would know that.

'Job losses are stifling at 9.6% (12% in my state)'

Again if you knew anything you would know that the last thing to recover after a recession is jobs. Oh by the way the recession caused by your incompetent fools in the house, senate and presidency.

'Inflation...yes,,,you remember inflation...is rearing it's head again at .7% for the last month.'

Liar, please show me a link or reference where you read that. Freaking liar!

'Bond markets have voted with their feet and debt cost is climbing'

Explain your stupid comments here. 'voted with their feet'? An by the way bond markets have nothing to do with the basic economy. God you are stupid.

'Obama is sneaking up on a tax revenue shortfall figure that will have Bernake crapping his pants, shortly.'

Again liar? You are a no class scum sucking right wing liar. You are quoting your hero Rush here and he is a liar and so are you. Funny thing is that the new taxes will be on people in a tax bracket way higher than you are in or ever hope to be in.

'Venture capital is leaving the US faster than Hillary under fire.'

Again liar. Venture capital is back in plan and is working in America. Now if you think you are right again please point me to the place you got this lie.

'GM Gubment motors has 75 billion taxpayer dollars, millions in defaulted debt in public and private pension funds, cornholed non-union retirees, and nothing to show for it.'

Typical Rush dribble. The socialist regime of George W Bush put $750 million into Wall Street to bail out their buddies there. I don't think anything the Obama regime has done is any different than the socialist regime of GWB.

'The Stimulus money is going (that would be the money they still can track) to states that need it least.'

Oh is that so, please expound on this lie. Where is it going that it is least needed? Who needs it more than where it is going?

'So someone, please, tell us just what the boy King is trying to pimp here...'

He won idiot and he nor many of us think anything you have to say is anything more than lies. Please prove us wrong.

I wonder why. Most likely it is due to the fact that he doesn't have a leg to stand on. The guy is an empty shirt.

I can only comment on myself for I really don`t understand the government. I am a 66 year old man. I had been in a family restaraunt buesness for 46 years. Construction surrounded my business for 18 months. It caused me to lose my business.During my shut done I developed kidney cancer and that cost me my life savings of about 120 thousand dollars. I own 20 acres and have a nice home. BUT now I am behind 3 months on mortgage, car, And have quit paying credit cards to any one.I recieve 1400 dollars a month which includes 700.oo of my s/s,my wifes is 350.00 s/s and my daughter s/s is 350.00.All though I have assests.I am selling every thing I own to make my house payments and car. , and for food.If I could find buyers I could probably get out of this struggle, but unfortunately,no one seems to have any money. I will most likely lose my home and my car. I did not vote for obamma, but and I don`t know who is at fault for this economy, but I do know that banks are all crooks, and most politions don`t care about your struggle in life.I do think that the democrats and the republicans will never get together and do the work for the people. They have hated each other for over 20 years now and just get worse.I won`t blame the last president for whats happenning, it is water under the bridge, but I will blame the present president if this situation doesn`t get better. He was voted in to solve all these problems, but I don`t think he can.I believe this economy will bottom out sooner or later on its own and we the people will suffer and start over again. I won`t be here to see it but I feel sorry for our children.I have learned not to trust any one in government any more. The only person to trust is GOD.
