John Edwards to fess up paternity?

After the National Enquirer broke the paternity scandal story in 2007 regarding then Presidental candidate hopeful John Edwards and his documentarian-alleged lover Rielle Hunter, the trajectory of news for the ex litigator and one-term Senator has been a downward spiral.

His wife Elizabeth, also an attorney, has had a public battle with cancer and dealing with rumor and facts over her husband's behavior.  Her recent memoir and book tour explicitly detailed the fallout on the Edwards' marital breach of trust.

Now the New York Times has picked up the Enquirer football and are reporting that a federal grand jury in nearby Raleigh is continuing to investigate whether any crimes were committed in connection with campaign laws in an effort to conceal his extramarital affair with Hunter.

The Times claims they have sources who say Edwards is now "considering declaring that he is the father of Ms. Hunter’s 19-month-old daughter, something that he once flatly asserted in a television interview was not possible."

The hold up on the declaration, according to the Times, is John's wife of 32 years, Elizabeth, who according to their sources has "resisted the idea of her husband’s claiming paternity."

Allegedly Hunter has given indication she will move to Edwards' state of North Carolina with her daughter, Frances, from New Jersey.
