Report: Fort Hood shooting suspect paralyzed
Nov 14, 2009, 2:28 GMT
Washington - Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the US Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at the Fort Hood military base in Texas a week ago, is paralyzed from the waist downwards, his lawyer told broadcaster CNN on Friday.
'It appears he won't be able to walk in the future,' said Hasan's civilian attorney, retired Army Colonel John Galligan.
Hasan is alleged to have opened fire at a military processing centre at Fort Hood on November 5. Two police officers returned the fire, wounding Hassan.
The suspect has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and will be tried in a military court, the army announced Thursday.
