Publicity-hungry socialites reportedly crashed state dinner
Nov 26, 2009, 10:25 GMT
Washington - A wealthy couple apparently crashed this week's state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Washington Post reported early Thursday on its website that Tareq and Michaele Salahi, described as possible participants in an upcoming reality show on Washington housewives, entered the White House event without an invitation.
They were in the room with Singh and President Barack Obama and even posed for a photo with Vice President Joe Biden.
'Everyone who enters the White House grounds goes through magnetometers and several other levels of screenings,' Ed Donovan, a spokesman for the Secret Service, told the Post. 'That was the case with the state dinner last night. No one was under any risk or threat.'
He said that one checkpoint might have failed to check for the Salahis on the guest list.
