Washington - An effigy of US President Barack Obama was found hanging in the southern state of Georgia on Monday, in the home town of former president Jimmy Carter, sparking an investigation by the Secret Service.
The black doll, with Obama's name on it and a rope around its neck, was found hanging from a building dedicated to Carter in the town of Plains, according to local television station WALB.
The doll was hanging above a sign on the building that welcomed visitors to the town, 'Home of Jimmy Carter, our 39th President.'
Edwin Donovan, a spokesman for the Secret Service in Washington, said the case was being investigated, but could give no further details.
