US actor Rip Torn arrested for breaking into bank

New York - The US film and television actor Elmore 'Rip' Torn was arrested on suspicion of breaking into a bank in the state of Connecticut, according to media reports quoting police.
The 78-year-old was found armed and drunk in the bank in the town of Salisbury, state police told Access Hollywood television. He was later released on bail of 100,000 dollars and ordered to appear before a judge on Monday, according to reports.
Torn starred alongside Demi More, Parker Posey and Ellen Barkin in the film Happy Tears. The family drama by director Mitchell Lichtenstein, featured at the Berlin Film Festival last year.
He also played the role of King Louis XV in Marie Antoinette and has starred in Wonder Boys and Men in Black. In the early 1980s, he was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role in Cross Creek.
He currently stars in the US television comedy series 30 Rock.
