One dead after shooting and car accident at US base
Feb 24, 2010, 16:07 GMT
Washington - One alleged trespasser was killed and another injured in a shooting at a US Air Force base in Arizona that led to a car accident, authorities said Tuesday.
The incident occurred late Monday night when two occupants of an allegedly stolen vehicle tried to pass through a gate at Luke Air Force Base in Lichtfield, Arizona, base officials said.
When a security guard approached the vehicle, the driver sped directly at the guard, who opened fire, and the car crashed. It was not clear whether the death was caused by the gunshot or injuries in the accident. The second individual was injured and remained hospitalized.
Luke Air Force is a training facility for F-16 pilots.
