Security breach closes Los Angeles Airport terminals
Apr 8, 2010, 20:11 GMT
Los Angeles - Authorities shut down three terminals at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday after a man evaded security checks on his way to a flight.
The security scare came amid a heightened alert at US airports following a scare a day earlier when a Qatari diplomat's attempt to sneak a smoke in a plane's bathroom sparked fears of an airplane bombing attempt.
Thursday's two-hour closure of the LAX terminals started at around 5 am when a man whose bag was selected for secondary screening took his bag before it could be checked. The closure was only lifted when the man was located aboard an airplane that was scheduled for take-off. He was returned to the terminal where his bag was checked and nothing dangerous was found, authorities said.
About 15 flights were delayed because of the incident.
