Lindsay Lohan offered jail plea deal in theft case
Feb 23, 2011, 18:46 GMT
Los Angeles - Lindsay Lohan would have to serve jail time if she agrees to a plea deal to charges that she stole a 2,500-dollar necklace, the judge in the case said Wednesday.
Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz said he would reject any deal that avoided jail time for the troubled actress, who is also facing punishment for alleged parole violations.
'If you plead in front of me, if this case is resolved in front of me, you are going to go to jail. Period,' he said.
'I treat everybody the same,' Schwartz told the actress, 24, at a court hearing in Los Angeles Wednesday. 'I don't care that you're Lindsay Lohan vs John Doe or Jane Doe. That doesn't affect me.'
According to celebrity news site TMZ.com, prosecutors offered Lohan a plea deal in which she would be sentenced to six months in county jail for stealing the jewelry.
Lohan faces a grand theft charge for allegedly walking away with the necklace from a jewelry store. Lohan has indicated it was all a mistake because she thought she was allowed to borrow the necklace.
