Washington - Authorities in Texas have arrested an Army soldier sought on child pornography charges but later discovered bomb making materials and weapons in his hotel room, CNN reported.
The arrest took place in Killeen, Texas, which is close to Fort Hood, where a 2009 shooting spree left 13 people dead and dozens wounded.
Killeen police arrested Private Naser Abdo after receiving a call from a gun-shop owner about a suspicious individual who asked questions about ammunition before buying three boxes of 12-gauge ammunition and a magazine for a pistol with cash, CNN reported, citing a defence official.
Federal agents searching his hotel room found gunpowder, shotgun shells, a pressure cooker, 18 pounds of sugar, four magazines and ammunition, CNN reported.
Abdo was reportedly absent without leave and had been seeking to be discharged from the military because of his religious beliefs.
