Six killed in hair salon shooting
Oct 12, 2011, 22:26 GMT
Los Angeles - A gunman wearing body armour went on the rampage in a southern California hair salon Wednesday, killing six people and injuring three critically before being arrested by police.
The shooting occurred at around 1:30 pm (2030 GMT) in the normally quiet coastal town of Seal Beach in Orange County, some 40 kilometres south of Los Angeles.
Police did not immediately identify the attacker or the fatalities, nor did they ascribe a motive for the attack. But witnesses familiar with employees at the Meritage Salon said the alleged attacker was involved in a domestic dispute with one of the employees.
'It just caught everyone off guard and people started running outside to see what was happening,' Zach Benson, who was working at a nearby restaurant, told broadcaster NBC in Los Angeles. 'It was a very bizarre scene.'
