Man booked for posing skeleton as carpool passenger
Jan 5, 2012, 23:01 GMT
San Francisco/Seattle - Police in Seattle have arrested a driver who posed a plastic skeleton as his passenger in order to skip traffic by driving in a carpool lane, local television station King 5 reported Thursday.
The report said that a highway patrol officer stopped the man after he spotted him speeding in the carpool lane and making aggressive lane changes. The officer then noticed the unusual passenger - a plastic skeleton who was dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and propped up to make it appear that it was a real person.
Carpool regulations in the area restricted used of the lane at that time of day to vehicles carrying at least two passengers. The driver was ticketed for speed, unsafe lane change and the carpool lane violation, the report said.
