Jan 9, 2012, 0:41 GMT
Washington - About 100 soldiers have been locked into their Washington-state base for days over missing equipment such as weapons accessories, the News Tribune of Tacoma reported Sunday.
The infantry company has been kept on the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Stryker brigade since Wednesday while the Army investigates, the Trubune quoted an Army spokesman as saying.
Spokesman Major Chris Ophardt said the missing items included laser sights and other 'sensitive' equipment, but added that no weapons were missing.
Lewis-McChord spokesman Matt Hinkle said that the soldiers would be kept 'on base until the items are found.'
'This is the unit's property that's come up missing,' he was quoted as saying.
The company under investigation is the 4th Stryker combat brigade which did two tours of duty in Iraq.
