Romney looks forward to challenge against Obama
Jan 11, 2012, 1:58 GMT
Manchester, New Hampshire - Republican candidate Mitt Romney challenged President Barack Obama Tuesday as he declared victory in the first US primary elections in the northeastern state of New Hampshire.
'This president has run out of ideas and now he's run out of excuses,' Romney, 64, told cheering supporters at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.
Romney's double-digit victory over five other candidates - he was running about 36 per cent with one-third of the votes counted - gave him key momentum in upcoming contests in South Carolina and Florida later this month. Dozens of states must still weigh in on the nomination process before presidential elections on November 6.
'We believe in the America that is a land of opportunity and a beacon of freedom,' Romney declared, as he vowed to turn around the US economy and repeal Obama's signature healthcare reform law.
