NATO chief joins criticism of US presidential candidate Rick Perry
Jan 18, 2012, 16:25 GMT
Brussels - NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Wednesday joined in the criticism of US Republican presidential nomination candidate Rick Perry, who has said that Turkey is run by 'Islamic terrorists' and should be expelled from NATO.
'I strongly disagree with these statements,' Rasmussen said in Brussels at a joint press briefing with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
'I have noted that the Turkish foreign ministry said that Perry's comments were baseless and inappropriate, and I fully agree with the Turkish foreign ministry,' the NATO chief told reporters.
