Family opts not to seek damages from Michael Jackson's doctor

Los Angeles - The family of Michael Jackson has opted not to seek damages from the physician who was convicted of manslaughter in the pop star's death in 2009, the entertainment news website TMZ reported on Wednesday.
The decision by the family means prosecutors will no longer seek restitution from Conrad Murray, according to TMZ.
A restitution hearing scheduled for Monday has been cancelled.
The original lawsuit had sought restitution of 100 million dollars for profits forgone when Jackson's This Is It tour had to be called off due to his death.
The website reported that the family decided to give up pursuing the money now that it seems unlikely Murray, who also lost his physician's license, will ever be able to produce the sums involved.
