Washington - Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney captured a clear win Saturday in the Republican caucuses in the western US state of Nevada, projections showed.
Romney had captured 41 per cent of the vote, according to official results from the state's Republican Party. Though only about 10 per cent of the vote had been counted, television networks were able to call the contest for Romney after caucuses ended in Las Vegas, the state's largest city.
Texas Congressman Ron Paul and former speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich were locked in a battle for second place.
