Paul McCartney gets Hollywood star
Feb 10, 2012, 1:15 GMT
Los Angeles - Paul McCartney became the last Beatle to get a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in a ceremony Thursday, in which he paid tribute to his bandmates in the legendary rock group.
'Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock 'n' roll greats, I would have never thought the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,' said McCartney, 69.
'That was like an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today, and it's happening. But I couldn't have done it without, certainly, three boys - so I want to say thanks to those guys: John, George and Ringo.'
The event was held on the 48th anniversary of The Beatles' first arrival in the United States on February 9, 1964. John Lennon received a star in 1988, nearly eight years after his death, while George Harrison's came in 2009, eight years after he died. Ringo Starr got the honour in 2010.
