Cirque Du Soleil lined up for Oscar show
Feb 17, 2012, 23:07 GMT
Los Angeles - Movie stars won't be the only ones in the spotlight at the Oscar show on February 26.
Producers of the Academy Awards announced Friday that the world-famous Cirque Du Soleil will present a three-minute performance during the telecast that would feature more than 50 aerialists, acrobats and contortionists in the largest Cirque cast ever to appear in a single act.
It will be the second time the modern-day circus has performed at the Oscars, with their first appearance coming 10 years ago.
The troupe currently has 22 productions taking place around the world, but the performance at the Oscar show will be unique and not drawn from any existing acts.
The Oscars this year will be hosted by Billy Crystal. Black-and-white silent movie The Artist is the overwhelming favourite to win the Best Picture Oscar.
