Rihanna and Chris Brown reunite in new recordings
Feb 22, 2012, 6:07 GMT
Los Angeles - Three years after Chris Brown made headlines by beating his then girlfriend on the eve of the Grammy awards, the controversial couple appear to be getting closer than ever.
The chart-topping singers on Tuesday both released singles featuring their former partners.
The reunion sparked controversy even without Brown's X-rated lyrics.
'Girl, I wanna f--- you right now,' sings Brown on a remix of Rihanna's song Birthday Cake. 'Been a long time/I've been missing your body.'
Rihanna was less explicit on her contribution to Brown's remix of Turn Up the Music, but also made her feelings clear, singing 'I love you baby.'
The pair have been tweeting public messages to each other in recent days even as Brown's appearance at last week's Grammy show sparked criticism that it somehow condoned his violent past.
Critics blasted Rihanna for collaborating with Brown. 'It's all too much for us to handle,' said Entertainment Weekly. 'It dangerously downplays domestic violence and sends the wrong message to millions of young fans.'
