Jackson manslaughter doctor denied bail
Feb 24, 2012, 22:30 GMT
Los Angeles - A judge on Friday denied a request to free Dr Conrad Murray on bail while he appeals his conviction for the manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor determined that Murray, 49, was a flight risk since he has minimal property and family in Los Angeles.
He also maintained that the former cardiologist was a threat to public safety given his willingness to use the hospital sedative propofol in a private setting, celebrity website TMZ.com reported.
Murray is currently serving a four-year sentence in Los Angeles County Jail after his conviction last November for the manslaughter of Jackson.
Murray is appealing his conviction on grounds he never had a chance to prove Michael killed himself due to stress. Murray's appellate attorney Valerie Wass has claimed that he is a 'scapegoat,' who's being blamed for Michael's death because there's no one else to target.
