Jennifer Hudson on witness list for family's murder trial
Feb 29, 2012, 0:43 GMT
Los Angeles - Singer Jennifer Hudson is on the prosecutor's witness list for the upcoming trial of the man accused of murdering her mother, brother and nephew, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.
The report said that the trial of William Balfour, who was married but estranged from Hudon's sister Julia at the time of the killings, is set to begin April 9, with the first testimony scheduled for two weeks later.
Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson, 57, her brother Jason Hudson, 29, and her sister's son Julian King, 7, were killed in October 2008.
In one of the only interviews she has given about the killings, the Oscar-winning star of Dreamgirls said she had been due to visit her mother that day before deciding at the last minute to fly to Miami to see her boyfriend.
'That's one of the things that saved my life,' she told Ebony magazine. 'I flew out to see him. That's why I'm still here.'
